What's included

Cousin Shine is simple on purpose: a bath, a towel dry and a full brush-out. Your dog is handled calmly, at their own pace, by someone they already know from the pack, which matters for dogs who get nervous around new people or new places.

It is a bath and brush only, not full grooming. There are no haircuts, trims or styling. If your dog needs a haircut, a full-service groomer is the right choice; Cousin Shine is for the in-between baths and brush-outs.

You can book it on its own or add it to a stay. During boarding, the bath happens toward the end of the stay; if your pickup is early (6 to 8 AM), it is done the evening before so your dog can eat breakfast calmly in the morning. For daycare and Half-Day, it fits into the quiet part of the day so your dog can rest afterward.

Who it's for

Cousin Shine works well for regular daycare cousins who want a bath without a separate trip, for boarding dogs going home after a few days of yard play, and for families who simply prefer that their dog be bathed by someone their dog already trusts.

New to Cousin Haven? Every new dog starts with a free Meet & Greet, so I can meet your dog, learn how they handle water and brushing, and note anything sensitive, like ears, paws or skin, in their profile.

The COUSIN Method

Even a bath follows the COUSIN Method. Knowing your dog first is what makes it calm.

  1. C

    Connect

We meet at a free, 30-minute Meet & Greet on a Saturday, so your dog isn't bathed by a stranger.

  2. O

    Outline

Your dog's profile records coat type, sensitive spots, skin notes and how they react to water and brushing.

  3. U

    Unite

The bath fits into your dog's day with the pack, with time to settle before and rest after.

  4. S

    Share

You get photos of your dog as soon as the bath is done.

  5. I

    Inform

At pickup I tell you anything I noticed while bathing and brushing that you might want to watch or mention to your vet.

  6. N

    Next

We note what worked, like water temperature, breaks and favorite brush, for next time.

Frequently asked questions

Is Cousin Shine a grooming service?

No. Cousin Shine is a bath and brush only. There are no haircuts, trims or styling. If your dog needs a haircut, a full-service groomer is the right choice.

How is the price decided?

By your dog's weight: Small up to 20 lb is $25, Medium 21 to 50 lb is $35, Large 51 to 80 lb is $45, and XL 81 lb and up is $55.

Is there a price for adding it to a stay?

Yes. When you add Bath & Brush to a daycare day, Half-Day or boarding stay, it is $5 less per dog than the regular price for its size.

Can I book a Bath & Brush on its own, without a stay?

Yes. Cousin Shine can be booked on its own. If your dog is already a cousin, just message me to pick a day. New dogs start with a free Meet & Greet first.

When does the bath happen during a boarding stay?

Toward the end of the stay, so your dog goes home clean. If your pickup is early, between 6 and 8 AM, I do the bath the evening before, so your dog can eat breakfast calmly before you arrive instead of being rushed through a bath.

Will I see my dog after the bath?

Yes. I send you photos as soon as the bath is done, so you can see your dog fresh out of the tub.

Is a bath included automatically?

No. Baths are only done when you request one as a paid add-on. Your dog will not be bathed without your request.

My dog doesn't like baths. Can you still do it?

Tell me at booking. We take it slow, with breaks and calm handling. If your dog is truly distressed, I'll stop and let you know instead of forcing it.
